Idea Festival Starts Tomorrow

IdeaFestivalThe KIX team will be in Louisville this week, along with hundreds of other creative thinkers, for IdeaFestivalUSA Today reports, “Since 2000, IdeaFestival has brought together some of the world’s biggest thinkers and innovators for a series of presentations that span topics in the arts, technology, science, philosophy, education and business.”

The four-day festival kicks off tomorrow morning at 8:30 with Thrivals 5.0. This session is all about venturing into the unknown. Thrivals 5.0 & the Wondaland Arts Society will present “questors”- people who have actually dared to leave the known limits of their world and have ventured into an unknown and dangerous realm, where the rules and limits are not known, returning as our heroes.

Some of the notable speakers that you’ll see at this year’s IdeaFestival include:

  • Cynthia Lowen The co-filmmaker of Bully, a feature documentary following a “year in the life” of America’s bullying crisis, which she developed, produced, and wrote in partnership with Emmy and Sundance Award-winning director Lee Hirsch.
  • Peter Sims Entrepreneur, VC, and author explores how small discoveries, actions of “experimental innovation” can lead to breakthroughs ideas. His latest book is called Little Bets: How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries.
  • Maurice Ashley The first African-American International Grandmaster in
    2009, a three-time national chess championship coach, two-time author, iPhone app producer, puzzle inventor, DVD creator, ESPN commentator, and motivational speaker.
