American Chamber of Commerce Executives Annual Convention Comes to our Region

American Chamber of Commerce ExecutivesThe KIX team enjoyed a great day yesterday at the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Convention that is being held in Louisville this year. The day kicked off with inspiring remarks from Yum! Brands CEO David Novak, who shared the unique leadership program he has developed. It was a great way to start a day filled with networking, workshops, and forums for the men and women who represent our nation’s business community.

One workshop that was of particular interest to KIX was the “Blue Ribbon Regional Programs,” where we heard about other successful regional efforts throughout the country, including Pittsburgh, PA and Buffalo, NY. The prevailing message was that regional collaboration isn’t easy and it takes time, but it is critical to leveraging opportunities successfully. KIX plans to engage ACCE’s Alliance of Regional Stewardship that hosted the workshop so we can learn more about other successful regional modes. We understand one of our great regional champions, Joan Riehm, helped found this alliance.

And the day of programming couldn’t have concluded in a better fashion, with remarks from an old friend, Dr. Lance Secretan. The man who helped us determine our One Dream for our region spoke to dozens of chamber CEOs about leadership through inspiration as opposed to motivation. While KIX looks to connect people throughout the region, we want to build the inspiring relationships that Lance describes. From Novak to Secretan — it seemed like a perfect way to end the day and bring it all full circle.
