“All the World’s a Stage” at 36th Annual Humana Festival

Shakespeare was right – all the world’s a stage. The theater impacts audiences and communities across the globe, and right here in our region you can find one of the most popular theatrical events anywhere, as well as one that attracts huge audiences to our area from the region, the country and more than 30 foreign countries each year.

The 36th Annual Humana Festival of New American Plays will be held at Actors Theatre in Louisville, KY February 26 Humana Festival Louisvillethrough April 15. This world renown event has a line-up of performances with something for everyone – comedy, tragedy, cutting-edge theatrical exploration at its finest.

This event has a lot to be proud of. Many of the plays that have premiered in the Humana Festival of New Plays have gone on to receive global acclaim. The list of prizes won by the plays featured in this event is also quite impressive and includes three Pulitzer Prizes, five Susan Smith Blackburn Prizes, eight Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association New Play Awards, and four OBIE Awards.

The Humana Foundation’s support of Actors Theatre helps to make events like this possible. Michael von Siebenburg Melts Through the Floorboards – March 22- April 15, 2012
A dark comedy highlighting the difficulties of a modern day vampire.

Eat Your Heart Out – March 9 – 31, 2012
Emotional story of dating, parenthood, and adoption.
